What is a civil claim?
A civil claim is a legal action where one party sues another, to resolve a dispute or recover
money. Such claims, for example can be about:
- Broken contracts
- Faulty products
- Personal disputes, etc
I want to sue someone but do not know if I have a case

I am being sued, how do I defend myself?
Do not ignore the claim, time is critical. If you are being sued, seek legal advice immediately.
Bring all Court documents you have received to us, we will review your case and advise you

Can I sue someone who is not in Singapore?
Yes you can. After you file your claim, you must apply for permission from the Court to
serve someone outside of Singapore. Our team can guide you through this process.
Is there a time limit for when I should sue?
Yes. The Limitation Act sets deadlines for different claims. If you miss the limitation period,
your claim will be time-barred, and you can no longer file the claim. For example:
- Contract: Generally claimable for 4 to 6 years
- Negligence: 3 years (personal injury)

How long do civil claims usually take to be resolved?
It depends on the complexity of the case, but generally it takes about 6 to 18 months to be
resolved. Factors, such as the number of parties involved, whether mediation is attempted,
and the need for expert evidence, can affect the timeline.
