Viviene Sandhu

Viviene Sandhu
Advocate, Certified Mediator, Arbitrator, and Law Society Pro Bono Ambassador (2025)
Viviene graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Liverpool in 1995 and was called to the English Bar in 1996. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1998.
With over 25 years of experience in dispute resolution, Viviene is a seasoned Advocate whose practice spans Family Law, Employment Law, and Negligence claims, both professional and personal injury. Her extensive involvement in complex, contested matters has equipped her with deep expertise across all levels of the Singapore Court hierarchy.
Viviene is a dedicated mediator, having served with the State Courts and the Singapore Mediation Centre since 2010. She received her mediation training from Regent’s University London and the Singapore Mediation Centre, where she currently serves as a Principal Mediator. She is also a Senior Mediator with the Law Society Mediation Scheme and an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Institute. Her mediation work encompasses a wide spectrum of disputes, conducted across Singapore’s dispute resolution centres and in her private capacity.
In addition to her private practice, Viviene is an Assigned Solicitor with the Legal Aid Bureau and a Primary Justice Lawyer at the Community Justice Courts, reflecting her commitment to accessible justice.
In 2017, she earned her Arbitration qualifications and became a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, enabling her to offer Mediation–Arbitration services. Her contributions to the judiciary were formally recognised in 2018 when she received the State Courts’ Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award (Advocate & Solicitor Category).
Viviene continues to deepen her expertise through specialised certifications. In 2022, she completed the Family Mediation Certification Programme (Singapore Mediation Centre and Family Justice Courts) and the Intellectual Property Mediation Certification Programme (Singapore Mediation Centre and Intellectual Property Office of Singapore). In 2023, she completed the Family Therapeutic Justice Certification Programme jointly organised by the Singapore Academy of Law and the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
In 2025, Viviene was honoured as the Law Society Pro Bono Ambassador, a testament to her unwavering dedication to public service and legal outreach.
Viviene is passionate about demystifying legal processes and ensuring that individuals receive clear, compassionate, and high-quality legal advice. She is also a mother of three, and while she finds deep joy in both her work and her family, she acknowledges that balance is rarely perfect and never achieved alone. It takes a village. Viviene credits a strong support network, trusted colleagues, and her community for helping her navigate the demands of both spheres with resilience and grace.
